About School
Saint George, in whose name the school was founded, represents the victory of good over evil. Saint George is the embodiment of piety, courage, gentleness, kind-heartedness and justice. And these are the qualities that St. George’s School endeavours to imbibe in its students in addition to excellence in academics and sports. Late Rev. Fr. V.C. George, a Christian Missionary priest belonging to the Indian Orthodox Church, founded the School in 1962. It is a minority institution run by the Christian community. It is affiliated to the CBSE and has been granted recognition by the Directorate of Education. St. George’s School began its remarkable journey to be one of the most renowned schools in Delhi after coming under the aegis of The Muthoot Group in 1982. With three decades of tremendous change and development and from being a small and relatively unknown institution, it has, due to the untiring efforts and able guidance of Director Dr. Sara George now become a name to reckon with in Education in Delhi. The school is a unique mix of the traditional and the modern. It blends the old and time-tested values with modern knowledge and state-of-the-art-facilities. Value orientation has been one of the most important focuses at St. George’s. We teach the value of respecting elders through the motto “Mathru Devo Bhava, Pithru Devo Bhava, Guru Devo Bhava”. Every student is expected to “Spread The Light” of knowledge, wisdom, compassion, humility, humanitarianism, and above all love for all mankind. In the words of the Director, Dr. Sara George, “Each child is as important to us as if he or she were our own. We are not interested in academic statistics alone. We are interested in ensuring that each of our children realizes his or her full potential in the lines that he or she has aptitude in and becomes a well moulded, patriotic citizen that India can be proud of.” A Georgean is expected to take up the reins of societal welfare and serve the country with a sense of purpose, pride and belongingness. The main objective of the School is to shape every student into a dynamic personality and moulding him or her into a valuable contributor to the society. Presently, the school has over 2700 students on its rolls and more than 130 dedicated teachers. Each student receives a high level of individual attention.

Inspire Ignite and Instill “Education is not the filling of a bucket but the lighting of a fire,” said W B Yeats, the famous 20th century Irish poet. Educators play a big role in molding the lives of students. A good educator does not conform to a mould but goes beyond it to empower his/her students to become the people they are meant to be in the world. As educators we try to follow the three “I’s”. Inspire: Inspire to aspire. In the age of standardized testing, it is necessary to remain inspired. Inspiration is not just knowledge but it is about emotional connections. The learner gets emotionally connected to the educator (teacher/s). Teacher/s and students need to be connected on a personal level to generate the required motivation. Ignite: Ignite passion for learning. Educators see the hunger in their students’ eyes. As educators, they create an environment that drives passion to do great things in life. Martin Luther once said, “Every thing that is done in the world is done by hope”. As good educators we also ignite hope in the students to explore and fulfill their potentials. Hope is like a seed. It can grow, bloom and flourish. It can be a great force that impacts the world. Instill: Instill creativity. It is often assumed that creativity is an inborn talent. No, creativity has to be instilled. Educators foster creativity by following self expression and giving room for imagination. They encourage innovations and allow the learners to have different approaches in learning. They provide them with ample time and space to be creative.

“The goal of Education is the advancement of knowledge and the dissemination of truth.” – John .F. Kennedy A school plays a crucial role in shaping a child’s future. Not only does this include the provision of education and ensuring learning, but moulding the character, morals and value system of the child as well. A school provides the foundation needed to view the world as a limitless space providing innumerable opportunities to shine. We at St. George’s School, strive to provide education that explores, challenges and grooms every aspect of the child’s personality. While we are determined to provide seamless learning targeted towards excellent academic performance through incorporation of the latest teaching approaches, we also ensure that we are actively working on the physical, social, emotional and spiritual training of our children. The focus is on trying to create learning experiences that prepare our students to be happy, balanced, productive and innovative students of tomorrow. We believe that the ability to think outside the box or creative thinking is highly valued in today’s innovation driven world. As the Principal of the school, my motto is to encourage and empower our Georgeans to grow as strong, reflective and humble individuals with discerning minds, prepared to make a mark in all spheres of life. I am certain that our students will carry forward the school motto of ‘Spread the light’, emerging as worthy members of the society and ideal citizens of the country. May the Almighty bless everyone with his choicest blessings!
