Capt AJ Singh is an alumnus of The Lawrence School, Sanawar, the National Defence Academy (NDA), Khadakwasla, the Indian Military Academy (IMA), Dehradun, Jawahar Lal Nehru (JNU) University, Punjab University (PU) Chandigarh, MDU Rohtak and The College of Material Management (CMM), Jabalpur. He passed out from the NDA, with a Merit Card in Physical training and the First Prize in Officer-Like-Qualities (OLQ) and was commissioned into the Army in 1982. He was a recipient of the Commandant’s Silver Medal at CMM, Jabalpur in 1984. Capt AJ Singh has served in various appointments and in a number of sectors/commands during his Army service and also did a year’s stint in counter-insurgency operations. He prematurely resigned his commission from the Indian Army in 1987 and has since then been working for the noble cause of education. He is a founder member of the Faculty and has been performing the duties of the Head of Pinegrove School, since its inception in 1991. headmaster Capt Singh has played a vital role in the development of both Pinegrove Schools at Subathu and Dharampur and has been instrumental in bringing in radical changes in the pedagogy of residential school students. Capt Singh is also the Director of St Soldier`s School, Sector 16 Panchkula (+2 CBSE) and is instrumental in the qualitative and progressive transformation of the school, as one of the most prestigious and successful day schools in the tri-city. Capt Aj Singh is an earnest social worker, was President of the Rotary Club of Kasauli in 1996, is a Life Member of the Indian Red Cross Society and has widely travelled in India and abroad. He is an ingenious artist, prolific orator and an enthusiastic gymnast. He is a keen golfer, plays field and racquet games proficiently and takes keen interest in the progress of sports and co-curricular activities in the school. He has been part of numerous exchange programs and has visited nearly forty countries and hundreds of schools within India and overseas. Capt Singh was elected unanimously to the post of Chairman, Indian Public Schools’ Conference (IPSC) in 2018 and Vice-President of the Boarding Schools Association of India (BSAI) in 2021. The IPSC conferred the prestigious “IPSC Gaur Hari Singhania Lifetime Achievement Award ” during the 82nd (IPSC) Principals’ Conclave held at The Doon School, Dehradun, in Jan ’22. He was also nominated to serve on the Board of Governors of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) from 2019-2022. During the past years, Capt Singh has been selected as one of the top educators in the country and Pinegrove School has been ranked as one of the leading Co-ed Boarding School in the country, on a number of occasions, by numerous educational magazines including Education World and Education Today. In Jan 2015, the Times Group felicitated Capt Singh, in Chandigarh, honouring him as one of North India's top 'Edupreneur'. He was awarded the 'National Award for Excellence in the Field of Education' by the Parent-Teacher Association of India. Capt. Singh was awarded the “Prerna Srot Samman”, which is the Highest Civilian Award of the State of Himachal Pradesh, by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of HP, Mr Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu, on the 75th (Platinum Jubilee) Celebrations of Himachal Day on 15th April 2023, which speaks volumes about the recognition of Capt Singh`s achievements in the field of School Education and Human Resource Development.
