Dr. Nikhil Wagh, from Educon International School, participated in the panel discussion on education leadership, student well-being, and the changing needs of schools at the Maharashtra Educators’ Summit & Awards, 2026, organised by EducationToday. The session brought education leaders together to examine the relationship between school quality, affordability, effective leadership and the expectations of families.
The conversation considered how schools can provide a strong educational experience while managing expenditure on staffing, infrastructure, technology and other institutional requirements. It also questioned the idea that premium education is defined primarily by expensive facilities or a particular institutional image.
A broader understanding of educational quality emerged during the discussion. Schools were encouraged to consider the learning outcomes they produce, the well-being of their students, and the extent to which they help young people become confident individuals and responsible citizens. The quality of teaching and the role of educators were central to this perspective.
As Founder-Chairman of Educon International School, Dr. Wagh brought the perspective of a school founder and institutional leader to the discussion. The session’s themes were relevant to leaders responsible for shaping a school’s direction while responding to the expectations of parents and the practical demands of educational delivery.
The panel also explored how technology and more effective use of existing infrastructure could help schools manage resources without lowering standards. This raised the importance of making considered operational decisions while protecting the quality of teaching and learning.
The discussion encouraged education leaders to view affordability and quality as connected responsibilities. Rather than focusing solely on the cost of running a school, institutions must also consider the value they deliver to students and families through effective teaching, meaningful learning experiences, and an environment that supports student development.
