It begins with people willing to question established practices and explore better ways of helping students learn. Teachers are important because they work most closely with learners and encounter classroom challenges firsthand. Yet they cannot innovate consistently without the right culture and support. This makes school leadership central to innovation. Great leaders do more than introduce new initiatives. They create conditions in which teachers feel trusted to experiment, collaborate, reflect and improve. Research on innovative leadership and teachers\u2019 21st-century skills points to a relationship between leadership practices and teachers\u2019 capacity to develop learning, innovation, technology and career-related skills.
