CUET UG 2026 Registration Deadline Extended to February 4: Eligibility, Exam Dates, and Step-by-Step Application Guide

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially extended the registration deadline for the Common University Entrance Test Undergraduate (CUET UG) 2026, providing relief to thousands of aspirants who were unable to complete their applications within the earlier timeline. The decision was taken after the agency received multiple representations from candidates requesting additional time to finish the online registration process.

As per the latest public notice released by NTA, the CUET UG 2026 application portal will now remain open until 11:50 PM on February 4, 2026. After this deadline, the registration link will be permanently disabled, and no further applications will be accepted. Candidates aiming for undergraduate admissions in central universities and other participating institutions must complete their applications through the official CUET website within the revised schedule.

NTA Extends CUET UG 2026 Registration After Student Requests

The CUET UG examination has become a single-window admission test for undergraduate programmes across a wide range of universities in India. Given its importance, NTA decided to extend the registration window to ensure that no eligible student misses the opportunity due to technical issues, document delays, or other constraints. The extension reflects NTA’s effort to make the admission process more inclusive and accessible.

The application window, which opened earlier this month, will now close nearly a week later than initially planned. Candidates who have not yet registered or who faced difficulties during submission can use this additional time to complete the process smoothly.

New Deadline: Apply Online Till 11:50 PM on February 4, 2026

According to the official notice, candidates must ensure that the complete application form—including fee payment—is submitted before the revised deadline. While the form submission deadline is February 4, 2026, NTA has also extended the last date for application fee payment to February 7, 2026, offering further flexibility to applicants.

It is important to note that registration is considered complete only after successful fee payment. Incomplete or unpaid applications may be rejected.

CUET UG 2026 Exam Schedule and Mode of Examination

NTA has also confirmed the tentative examination schedule for CUET UG 2026. The entrance test is expected to be conducted from May 11 to May 31, 2026. The exam will be held in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode, ensuring a standardised and secure assessment process.

CUET UG 2026 will be conducted at multiple examination centres across India as well as in 15 international cities, making it accessible to Indian students studying abroad. The final exam dates, subject-wise schedule, and shift timings will be announced closer to the examination period.

Who Can Apply: Eligibility and Subject Selection Rules

Candidates appearing for CUET UG 2026 must ensure they meet the eligibility criteria prescribed by the universities they wish to apply to. While CUET serves as a common entrance test, individual universities may have specific academic requirements, such as minimum marks or subject combinations.

During the application process, candidates are required to:

  • Select undergraduate courses they are interested in
  • Choose participating universities offering those programmes
  • Opt for up to five subjects, which may include:
    • Language subjects
    • Domain-specific subjects
    • General Aptitude Test

The application fee is calculated based on the number of subjects selected, so candidates should carefully finalise their choices before payment.
