Prof Neeraj Dwivedi Appointed as New Director of IIM Kashipur

With over 25 years of extensive experience spanning academia, corporate strategy, and institutional leadership, Prof Dwivedi brings a multidimensional perspective to the role. An Impressive Academic and Professional Journey

An alumnus of IIM Lucknow, Prof Dwivedi earned his Fellow Programme in Management (FPM) in Strategic Management. He also holds an MTech degree from IIT Kharagpur and a BTech from GB Pant University, Pantnagar. His diverse academic background underpins his strong foundation in both technical and managerial domains.

Prior to his new appointment, Prof Dwivedi served at IIM Lucknow as a Professor of Strategic Management, where he played several critical leadership roles, including Dean (Faculty and Programmes), Chairperson of Postgraduate Programmes, Admissions, Student Affairs, and Placements, and active member of the Board of Governors.

Achievements in Education and Beyond

One of Prof Dwivedi's notable contributions at IIM Lucknow was his pivotal role in helping the institution attain AACSB accreditation, a prestigious global benchmark in management education. He also served as the National Convener for the Common Admission Test (CAT) in 2017, ensuring the seamless execution of one of India’s most competitive and complex exams.

His academic career includes associations with top institutions such as IIM Indore, IIM Kozhikode, and the School of Management at the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), Thailand. Before transitioning to academia, Prof Dwivedi accumulated about seven years of industry experience, working with reputed organisations such as NTPC, Indian Oil, ONGC, Samsung, McKinsey & Co., and Tata Play.

Prof Dwivedi has been recognised multiple times for his outstanding contributions to research and teaching. These include:

• Best Case Award at the Strategic Management Forum Convention at IIM Bangalore (2010)
• Overall Best Research Paper Award at the IAMB Conference, San Antonio (2013)
• Best Doctoral Student Paper Award at IAMB, Rome (2014)
• Runner-up for Best Paper Award at the INDAM Conference in Goa (2024)

His elective course, “Mergers and Acquisitions,” was twice voted as the Best Strategy Elective by students at IIM Lucknow, highlighting his impact in the classroom and his ability to engage with real-world business complexities.
