V. Sivankutty, Minister for General Education in Kerala, has officially announced the result dates for the key board examinations in 2026. The Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) results will be declared on May 15, while the Plus Two Higher Secondary and Vocational Higher Secondary Education (VHSE) results will be released on May 22.

This announcement brings clarity and relief to lakhs of students who have been awaiting their results after completing their board examinations earlier this year. With a well-defined schedule now in place, students can begin preparing for the next phase of their academic journey.

Clear Timeline for Result Announcements

The Kerala education department has outlined a structured timeline for the release of various examination results. The SSLC results, which mark the completion of Class 10, will be announced first on May 15.

This will be followed by the declaration of Plus Two and VHSE results on May 22, slightly earlier than the initially expected date of May 25. Officials have indicated that the evaluation process has progressed efficiently, enabling the early release.

Additionally, the Plus One improvement results for students currently in Class 12 will be declared on May 8, while the regular Plus One Higher Secondary results are scheduled for June 10.

This staggered schedule ensures that students at different stages receive their results in a timely and organised manner.

Large Number of Students Appeared

The scale of examinations in Kerala continues to be significant. This year, over 4.17 lakh students appeared for the SSLC examinations, while approximately 4.5 lakh students took the Plus Two exams.

These numbers reflect the extensive reach of the state’s education system and the importance of these examinations in shaping students’ academic and career pathways.

The successful conduct and evaluation of such large-scale examinations require meticulous planning and coordination, which have been effectively managed by the state authorities.

Revaluation Process to Begin Soon

Recognising the importance of transparency and fairness, the Kerala government has confirmed that applications for revaluation will be accepted soon after the results are declared.

Students who wish to have their answer scripts rechecked or re-evaluated can apply through the prescribed process. The results of revaluation are expected to be published by the end of May, ensuring that students receive timely updates.

This provision offers reassurance to students with concerns about their marks, providing them with an opportunity to seek clarification and corrections if necessary.

Certificate Distribution to Follow Results

In addition to the announcement of results, the education department has outlined plans for the distribution of SSLC certificates. The process will begin shortly after the results are published.

Timely distribution of certificates is crucial, as these documents are required for further admissions and academic procedures. By ensuring a smooth transition from result declaration to certificate issuance, the authorities aim to minimise delays for students.

Special Provisions for Students in the Gulf Region

A notable aspect of this year’s examination process is the special provision made for students in the Gulf region who were unable to appear for their exams due to the ongoing conflict in West Asia.

According to the Minister, a system has been put in place to assess these students separately, ensuring that their academic progress is not adversely affected.

A total of 637 students were registered for the SSLC examinations and 592 for the Plus Two examinations in this category. This initiative reflects the government’s commitment to inclusivity and its efforts to accommodate students facing extraordinary circumstances.

Evaluation Process and Teacher Participation

The evaluation of answer scripts is a critical component of the examination process, and the Minister addressed concerns regarding teacher participation.

Strict instructions have been issued to take action against more than 2,000 teachers who reportedly evaded their evaluation duties without valid reasons. The Minister emphasised that answer script evaluation is an integral part of teaching responsibilities. 

Exceptions, however, are being made for teachers with serious health conditions. The government has also ensured that teachers are compensated for their evaluation work, reinforcing the importance of their role in the process.

By addressing these issues, the authorities aim to maintain the integrity and efficiency of the evaluation system.

Learning Support Programme for Students

Beyond examinations and results, the Kerala government has also focused on supporting students who require additional academic assistance.

A learning support programme has been implemented for students in Classes V to IX who failed to achieve the minimum required marks in their annual examinations. The programme was conducted from April 20 to April 27, with classes scheduled in the early morning hours from 7:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. to avoid extreme heat conditions.

In districts such as Palakkad and Kollam, where heatwave alerts were issued, classes were conducted online to ensure student safety.

This initiative highlights the state’s commitment to ensuring that no student is left behind, providing targeted support to help them improve their academic performance.

Bridge Classes and Fresh Assessments

For students who participated in the learning support programme, additional measures have been planned. Bridge classes will be conducted after schools reopen, particularly in districts affected by extreme weather conditions.

Fresh assessments for these students were scheduled from April 28 to April 30, with promotion lists to be published on May 2. These steps ensure that students receive adequate opportunities to demonstrate improvement and progress academically.

Such structured interventions reflect a comprehensive approach to education, focusing not only on high-performing students but also on those who need additional support.

Despite reports of some teachers’ organisations planning to boycott the learning support programme, the Minister confirmed that the initiative was carried out successfully without disruption.
