CUET UG 2025: NTA Revises Accountancy Paper Pattern, Offers Re-Test Option to Affected Candidates

In a significant mid-exam development, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has revised the Accountancy question paper pattern for the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) UG 2025. This update aims to bring better alignment between the notified syllabus and the design of the question paper, and it will impact both future and already-tested candidates.

What’s Changing in the CUET Accountancy Exam?

Starting May 22, 2025, the revised pattern will be implemented for the Accountancy paper. Under the new structure:

  • Students can choose between questions from Unit 5 or an optional alternative to Unit 5.
  • Content from Units 1 to 4 remains unchanged and will continue to be part of the test.

This change comes mid-way through the CUET UG 2025 exam cycle, which began on May 13 and will continue until June 3.

Re-Test Option for Early Test-Takers

In a move to ensure fairness and equity, the NTA has announced that candidates who took the Accountancy test between May 13 and 16 will be offered a choice:

  • Retain their original exam result, or
  • Opt to reappear for the Accountancy exam with the revised question paper pattern

NTA has assured that this re-test option will be made available via its official websites, and further details, including re-test dates and procedures, are expected shortly.

  • May 14 (Shifts I and II) were cancelled due to technical glitches, affecting over 76 candidates.

NTA has not yet released these candidates' revised schedule or new admit cards. Updates will be provided in due course, and affected candidates are advised to regularly monitor the official CUET websites.

Overview of CUET UG 2025

This year, CUET UG 2025 is being administered in a Computer-Based Test (CBT) format, and includes:

  • 37 total subjects:

  • 13 language papers
  • 23 domain-specific subjects
  • 1 General Aptitude Test
  • Multiple shifts across various exam centers in India and select international locations

Conclusion: Aimed at Fairness and Flexibility

The NTA’s decision to revise the Accountancy paper mid-cycle and offer affected candidates a chance to reappear demonstrates its commitment to fairness and transparency. While such mid-exam adjustments are unusual, the move reflects a responsive approach to feedback and syllabus alignment.

Students are strongly advised to stay updated through official sources, make informed choices about whether to retain or reattempt the Accounting paper, and seek support if needed.
